over 14 years of laughter

ben porterBen Porter is one of the founding members of the improv troupe Quick Wits, which is now called Laughing Stock. Ben has been doing theater since high school (go Murray High!) where he got his feet wet as "Helper 2" in "The Pajama Game". He then went onto bigger and better parts as "Sailor 1" in "South Pacific". Ben knew he had what it takes when his senior year he landed a speaking part as "Action" in" "West Side Story".

After taking a break from his acting career Ben found himself back on stage as an understudy at the Desert Star Playhouse (where he met his wife Melissa). Ben loves the theater, but truthfully loves his dear friends at the theater more than the stage itself. He is also greatly fond of the outdoors, fly fishing mostly. You may see him on occasion in Wendover playing poker (the person on his left sitting at the table with a surly look on his face is Russ Peacock).

His greatest accomplishment has to be his marriage to his dear wife and friend, Melissa. Who reminds him everyday how truly lucky he is. And heaven help us all, Ben has a son, Sam! He is the smile on Ben's face!

His love for improv comes from remembering life, and being one of twelve kids, there is a lot to remember! Sharing true moments of real life experience come easy for him.
