A native of Massachusetts, Jesse Parent first got into improv in college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA in 1992. Upon graduation, he headed to Utah and worked mostly at being a computer geek and hiding his accent after a confused co-worker wondered how he could start a vehicle with "khakis".
In 2001, Jesse's wife threatened certain essential bits of his anatomy if he got hurt doing jiu jitsu and couldn't help out when she delivered their daughter. Needing a new hobby, he decided to get back into improv. Since then, he has performed throughout Utah and in improv festivals all over the U.S. and Canada, which will soon be a part of the U.S. after our credit checks out.
Jesse runs the website, UtahImprov.com, which is focused on connecting Utah improvisers and letting the world know that Utah has more to offer than Jell-O and plural marriages. He also teaches improv and gets into amusing conversations of why you would need to learn or rehearse making things up. If anybody thinks of a good reason, email him.
Jesse had been performing as a guest performer with Laughing Stock since January of 2004. After a year of experiencing great shows with wonderful actors and excited audiences, he was finally given the opportunity to come on as a full actor. After checking with his wife that it was okay, he was able to say, "definitely maybe"! He also has a secret crush on Clarence (Hah! That's not going to get printed, is it? Is it!?!).
